Create Document Templates

1. Open an existing document you would like to convert or create a new Word Document.
2. Select the OnPoint Tab in Word (this assumes you have already installed the Word Add-In)
3. Using the Word Add-In, insert Placeholders (moustache syntax) for your Matter Data by clicking on the “Insert Placeholder” icon.
4. A placeholder looks like {client:Full}.  This placeholder will be replaced with the Full Name of your client.If the placeholder is bolded, highlighted, etc., the replacement data will also.
5. If desired, modify your placeholder to force Upper Case, Lower Case, or Capitalize only the first letter, click on “Letter Capitalization” for additional instructions.
6. For example, most templates will include the signer’s initials in upper case and the stenographer’s initials in lower case.
7. So a typical letter may have “JAC/lrs” between the attorney signature and enclosures to represent that the Attorney’s Initials are JAC and paralegal’s initials are LRS.
8. Using Letter Capitalization, your moustache would look like this: {mat:Atty:AllUpperCase}/{mat:Para:AllLowerCase}
9. Save your template to your Template Document Library.  (a link is provided at the top of each screen called “Document Templates”).
